Local Art Shows

West Lincoln Public Library invites West Lincoln and area artists to submit samples of their work for consideration. We exhibit two-dimensional works including paintings, drawings, mixed media, prints and photographs at our Smithville Branch. Artists at all stages of their career will be considered.

Submissions will be reviewed regularly, display periods will be 3 months. Submissions for the Pride installation must be recieved by Friday, May 31, 2024. Artists applying to exhibit are encouraged to be familiar with the layout, lighting, and method of hanging. Art must be prepared for proper hanging upon delivery.

* The Library does not pay exhibit fees. The Library does not charge commission on sales nor act as an intermediary for sales. Patrons interested in purchasing art will contact the artist directly. Exhibitors are responsible for obtaining their own damage insurance for the contents of their exhibit.

As we prepare to celebrate Pride Month in June, West Lincoln Public Library is excited to announce an opportunity for local artists to participate in the next round of our community art display. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and supportive community, and we believe that art plays a powerful role in promoting self-expression and empowerment, particularly regarding sexuality and gender orientation. As such, we invite artists of all backgrounds and identities to submit their work for consideration. Whether you're an emerging artist or a seasoned professional, we welcome your contributions to this celebration of inclusivity and creativity.

The theme of the art display is centered around self-expression and empowerment related to sexuality and gender orientation. We encourage artists to explore a wide range of mediums and styles to express their unique perspectives and experiences.

Submissions will be accepted starting Saturday, May 18, 2024 through Friday, May 31, 2024. To submit your artwork for consideration use the forms below. Please include a brief artist statement with your submission, sharing the inspiration behind your work, how it relates to the theme of the display, and dimensions for the piece(s).

Submission details:
Artwork submission deadline: Monday, May 27, 2024, 5:00 PM
Theme: Pride
Medium: Mediums that can be displayed safely on our art cube.
Submission guidelines: No nudity or explicit sexual content. No depictions of violence. Artworks featuring subjects or themes of self-expression and empowerment related to sexuality and gender orientation.

Selected artworks will be prominently featured in the West Lincoln Public Library from the month of June until September, providing artists with a platform to showcase their talent and contribute to a meaningful dialogue about LGBTQ+ representation and visibility. We believe that art has the power to inspire change and create connections, and we're excited to see how your submissions will enrich our community's celebration of Pride Month.

Anticipated show dates: Celebrating International Women's Day, June-August 2024
