WLPL 2026 Reading Challenge - All Branches
Each month we’re challenging you to read outside your comfort zone and discover new books. Pick up a tracking sheet at any library branch or see our website to get started. When finished, you can submit your tracking sheet to be entered into a small prize draw.
Touch a Truck - Community Centre Parking Lot
On Saturday June 13 from 11:00-2:00pm get up close and personal with your favourite trucks, big rigs, construction machines, community vehicles and more! Visit some amazing food trucks and try something new as a family. Drop-in.
Park + Art Gallery Passes - All Branches
2026 passes for the NPCA parks, Ontario Provincial Parks and the Hamilton Art Gallery are now available at all branches. Park passes provides unlimited entry for one vehicle and occupants to participating locations. Art gallery passes allow day access for 4 adults, children are free. See our website for more details.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - All Branches
Ongoing *New Incentives*
Attention parents and caregivers: join this growing movement to read every child 1,000 books before kindergarten. Reading 20 books per month to your infant/toddler/child teaches vocabulary, introduces the connection between pictures and words and creates lasting bonds. Register at any branch to begin your journey. We‘ll keep a log of the number of books read and offer incentives along the way.
Afterschool Arts & Crafting - Smithville Branch

Science Explorers - Caistorville Branch

Explore the fascinating world of science through a different and engaging experiment each month. In April we will make rubber band guitars and explore the science of instruments. May will have us making catapults to take a closer look at physics and in June we will build towers using various materials to put our engineering skills to the test. Recommended for ages 7-11. A 6-week story time program for toddlers that incorporates movement games alongside early literacy to help develop better physical awareness, improve gross and fine motor skills and learn how to navigate social movement relationships. Recommended for ages 3 to 5. Registration required.

Be a buddy! Teens ages 13-17 can earn volunteer hours by becoming a reading buddy, helping children aged 5-11 improve their reading skills using books and literacy based games. Income Tax Clinics - Smithville Branch

Get your taxes done for free through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). People with a modest income and a simple tax situation can get their tax returns done by volunteers for no cost. All April clinics run from 3:00-7:00pm. By appointment only.
Cricut Craft Club - Smithville Branch
Thursdays - 1:00pm; April 16; May 14 & June 11
The craft club is a 2-hour monthly program that teaches a new project each month to showcase the amazing crafting ability of the Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Design Space. April will feature custom bookshelf dividers, and in May we’re making pet placemats. In June we’ll be using our mug press to create personalized mugs. No experience necessary. Cost is $7 per person (cash only). Non-refundable. Registration required.
