Gaming at the Library

West Lincoln Library offers so much more than just books! Visit our Smithville location to try out our Oculus Quest 2, or play our Nintendo Switch on a large screen TV. Can’t stay but still want to play? Take one or more of our Nintendo Switch games home with you using your library card! Don’t have a Switch? Ask us how to borrow XBOX and Playstation games.

Easter Egg Hunt - All Branches

Starting March 25 until end of day March 30 find the hidden Easter eggs to claim a delicious treat.

**Cancelled** Eclipse Viewing Party - Smithville Branch

Watch day turn into night during the 2024 solar eclipse this Monday April 8 at 3:00pm! The library will be providing solar eclipse glasses to watch this spectacular celestial event. Bring friends and family and join us for snacks, refreshments and a take-home craft. Drop-in.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

Make a difference this Earth Day (April 22) by donating items you don't use or want anymore. A donation bin will be set up at the entrance of our Smithville Branch and gently used donations of clothes, electronics and household items will be accepted all day. Items will be donated to WLCC.

Good Food Box

Place your orders for fresh and affordable boxes of produce, either in person at Smithville Branch (cash only) or online at linksforgreenerlearning.org. The deadline for orders is March 13 and April 10, with deliveries being made to Smithville Branch on March 20 and April 17. Please wait to be called by Library staff before coming in to pick up your order to ensure that it’s ready.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - All Branches

Ongoing
Attention parents and caregivers: join this growing movement to read every child 1,000 books before kindergarten. Reading to your infant/toddler/child teaches vocabulary, introduces the connection between pictures and words and creates lasting bonds. Register at any Branch to begin your journey. We‘ll keep a log of the number of books read and offer incentives along the way.

Maker Mondays - Smithville Branch

Mondays @ 6:00pm; March 4 & 18, April 15 & 29
Learn how to create new projects every Maker Monday using our amazing MakerSpace equipment and other STEAM techniques. Recommended for children ages 8 to 12. Registration required.

A 6-week story time program that incorporates early literacy with songs, rhymes, instruments and more! Recommended for children ages 0-2. Registration required.

Welcome back to S.T.E.A.M! Come join us for a science, technology, engineering, art, and math program recommended for children ages 8-12. March features slime science (eww!) and in April we‘ll learn how to make our own logo stickers using Cricut Design Space. Later in the month we‘ll learn how to construct a marble run using only recycled materials. Registration required.

Recycled Book Origami - Wellandport Branch

Have fun with friends in this introductory origami workshop. Learn how to make simple animals and shapes using pages from discarded books. Recommended for ages 8-12. Registration required.

Painting the Palette - Caistorville Branch

Friday March 8 & April 19 @ 1:00pm
A monthly social art program that explores different types of painting mediums. From oil to pastels and even spray painting, come try your hand at something new. In March we will be using pastels to paint an iconic local scene, the Smithville Train Station. In April we will use ink wash to paint a bamboo scene. Registration required.

Cricut Craft Club - Smithville Branch

Thursdays @ 1:00pm; March 14 & April 11
The craft club is a 2-hour monthly program that teaches a new project each month to showcase the amazing crafting ability of the Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Design Space. March will feature Etched Mason Jar Vases, and in April we‘ll be making HTV Pet Bandanas. No experience is necessary. Registration required.
