TD Summer Reading Club - All Branches
The TD Summer Reading Club is back! Everyone between the ages of 0-17 can visit any library branch this summer to register and receive their TD Summer Reading booklet. Take part in fun weekly programs that explore science, art, reading and technology. This year‘s reading theme is "To the Stars"!
Ontario Planetarium - Smithville Branch
Kick off the summer with a Tour Through the Universe! The Ontario Planetarium will be here all day July 9th, with half hour presentations beginning at 11:30am. See website for presentation schedule. Drop-in. Cost is $2 per person, per session. Cash only.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - All Branches
Ongoing
Attention parents and caregivers: join this growing movement to read every child 1,000 books before kindergarten. Reading to your infant/toddler/child teaches vocabulary, introduces the connection between pictures and words and creates lasting bonds. Register at any Branch to begin your journey. We‘ll keep a log of the number of books read and offer incentives along the way.
Stories Under the Stars - Wellandport Branch

Recycling Rowers - Smithville Branch

Presented by Niagara Region Waste Management. Learn about the three R‘s! During this interactive presentation “Olympic Rowers” we‘ll be training for the Olympics in different bodies of "water." While training we‘ll come across litter, learning how to sort using the Blue Box, Grey Box and Green Bin. Recommended for ages 3-7. Registration required.

Get Baking! teaches teens basic baking skills while making a new, fun and tasty treat each month. July’s recipe will have teens making brownie ice cream sandwiches, and in August we’re taking advantage of seasonal peaches to make peach cobbler with ice cream. Recommended for teens ages 13 to 17. Place your orders for fresh and affordable boxes of produce, either in person at Smithville Branch (cash only) or online at linksforgreenerlearning.org. The deadline for orders is July 10 and August 14, with deliveries being made to Smithville Branch on July 17 and August 21. Please wait to be called by Library staff before coming in to pick up your order to ensure that it’s ready.

Pets Alive Niagara will be visiting from 10:00am until 5:00pm in the adopt-a-thon truck, ready and eager to help you find your fur-ever friend! A monthly social art program that explores different types of painting mediums. From oil to pastels and even spray painting, come try your hand at something new. Steps to Healthy Eating - Smithville Branch

Presented by registered dietician Dayna Caves from the Smithville Medical Centre. Join us for an in-depth information series about topics surrounding healthy eating. In July we will examine the difference between plant based and meat based diets and answering the question: is one better than the other? August‘s session will discuss buying healthy foods on a budget, and in September we‘ll be looking at how to eat for heart health. Registration required.
The Cookbook Clique - Smithville Branch

Have a passion for food? Join the clique! Using a different cookbook every month we’ll challenge ourselves to make something new. In July we’ll be making falafel burgers with a cucumber dill sauce from Big Vegan by Robin Asbell. In August we’ll be cooking summer cornbread with chilled cucumber and melon gazpacho from Canadian chef Lynn Crawford‘s book, Farm to Chef. Registration required.
