PD Day Skate & Family Day Trivia Competition
Start off the Family Day long weekend by enjoying a free skate (on us!) from 3:00-4:00pm, Friday February 13 . Drop-in. Then test your knowledge in a family-friendly trivia competition on the following Monday, February 16 from 11:00-12:30pm at our Smithville branch. Win prizes and enjoy refreshments and allergy-free snacks. Cost is $5 per family (cash only). Nonrefundable. Registration required.

Income Tax Clinics
Get your taxes done for free through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). People with a modest income and a simple tax situation can get their tax returns done by volunteers for no cost. Registration opens Tuesday February 17. Clinic dates are TBD. Seedy Saturday - Grimsby Public Library

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - All Branches
Ongoing
Attention parents and caregivers: join this growing movement to read every child 1,000 books before kindergarten. Reading 20 books per month to your infant/toddler/child teaches vocabulary, introduces the connection between pictures and words and creates lasting bonds. Register at any branch to begin your journey. We‘ll keep a log of the number of books read and offer incentives along the way.
Music & Movement Storytime - Smithville Branch
Thursdays - 10:30am; January 8 to February 12 & March 5 to April 9 (Except March 19)
A 6-week story time program for toddlers that incorporates movement games alongside early literacy to help develop better physical awareness, improve gross and fine motor skills and learn how to navigate social movement relationships. Recommended for ages 3 to 5. Registration required.
Baby Time Social - Smithville Branch
Monday January 5, February 2 & March 9 - 2:00pm
Stop in before the library opens and join us in the program room for a story time and infant-friendly activities aimed at babies ages 6 mos. to 23 mos. and their caregivers. Registration required.
Science Explorers - Caistorville Branch
Saturdays - 11:00am; January 10, February 7 & March 7
Explore the fascinating world of science through a different and engaging experiment each month. In January we will conduct a chemistry experiment, making ice cream in a bag and February will have us creating cotton ball launchers to examine the effects of kinetic energy. In March we will take a closer look at how sound works using sprinkles. Recommended for ages 7-11. Registration required.

Make It Mondays - Smithville Branch

A monthly kid-friendly tech literacy program featuring our MakerSpace and GamerSpace equipment. Learn how to use the 3D Printer, Cricut Maker 3, VR headsets and more to create out of this world projects! In January we will learn how to 3D design fidget toys and in February we’ll look at how to design and make pinback buttons. Then in March we’ll learn how to create digital art using the VR headset and Wacom drawing tablet. Recommended for ages 8 to 12. Registration required.

Be a buddy! Teens ages 13-17 can earn volunteer hours by becoming a reading buddy, helping children aged 5-11 improve their reading skills using books and literacy based games. Join and support Friends of the West Lincoln Public Library with an annual membership. We are currently accepting new members for all Executive and Supportive role positions.
Annual membership fee is $10.00 for the first year.
